"You Are a GENIUS and the world needs your contribution!" ~Angela Maiers
Dear Student,
Welcome to my class of explorers. I look forward to getting to know you very soon! We will spend this year defining who we are as learners through many activities, lessons, and conversations. It is my honor to guide you in the process of discovering who you are as a scholar and helping you figure out how you learn best in our class.
I am here to help you be the best you can be. Everyone is talented, valued, and appreciated in this class. And everyone has the potential to be someone who can change the world!
Some fun facts about me...
This year will mark my 18th year of teaching and my 9th year teaching 6th grade. I have also taught first, third, fifth grades in both public and private schools. Some of my professional accomplishments are I am a Google Certified Educator Level 2, CUE Innovative Educator, and Stonegate 2017 Teacher of the Year. In addition, I have a Bachelors of Science in Child and Adolescent Development and a Master of Science in Education for Curriculum and Instruction, both from California State University Fullerton. I enjoy integrating technology, current trends and events, and YOUR ideas for how we can make things more awesome in our classroom!
One of the things I like the best about teaching is that I get to know so many amazing young people. Throughout the year, our class focuses on developing the behaviors, habits and attitudes of successful 21st century learners. My job is to support you and serve as a guide as you learn and grow. I spend a lot of my time reading and researching, collecting resources, and thinking about how to connect what we are learning in class to the world around us. I will encourage you to do the same. We will be creative explorers, problem solvers and critical thinkers. We will be inspired and inspire others as we collaborate and communicate together with other classes around the world. We will be getting our genius on!
I look forward to getting to know each of you and to a wonderful year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Diaz
